Weber Thompson Welcomes New Design Principal Jeff Bates AIA

August 23, 2011 Seattle, Washington – Weber Thompson, a Seattle architecture, interior design, landscape architecture and community and urban design firm has hired architect Jeff Bates AIA. Jeff joins Weber Thompson’s team as a Principal leading the design of projects at all scales. “Jeff’s design talent and collaborative mentality make him a great fit for our team,” states founding Principal Scott Thompson. “As a number of new projects have come online, we are happy to be able to welcome him to Weber Thompson.”

Jeff has worked in the architecture profession for over 25 years. He owned his own firm, Shugart Bates, and worked in other firms such as Callison, CollinsWoerman and Skidmore Owings Merrill on a wide variety of projects, both public and private, from mixed-use residential and commercial office to retail and master planning. Some of his large profile projects include 2200 Westlake, Bellevue Park Hotel, and 307 Westlake. He has a Master of Architecture from Columbia University and a degree in Environmental Design from Texas A&M.

A belief that good design is possible at all scales and on all projects is a hallmark of Jeff’s working style, as is his promotion of the profession. “At the end of the day,” Jeff states, “our role as architect is to be a champion for design despite the various challenges developments face; all while advancing our client’s goals.” A focus on design intent combined with ingenuity, resourcefulness and tenacity throughout the life of a project, Jeff believes, results in good design every time.
