Weber Thompson’s Terry Thomas Building Earns National Award for Environmental Sustainability

Regional Nominations Also Recognize Building’s Innovations

SEATTLE – Sept. 18, 2008 – The Terry Thomas, a 40,000-square-foot office building that Seattle-based Weber Thompson designed, has won a national award for its environmentally sustainable design.

Eco-structure Magazine awarded the Terry Thomas third place in the Ecommercial (environmentally responsible commercial) category in the nationally circulated publication’s inaugural Evergreen Awards.

The four-story Terry Thomas will be featured in the October issue of Eco-Structure, and the Weber Thompson design team will be recognized during a reception that the magazine is hosting during the November Greenbuild International Conference and Expo in Boston.

The October issue will be the second time this year that the magazine has published a story about the new building.  In June, the magazine reported that the Terry Thomas “provides a window into the soul of [Weber Thompson, which] practices what it preaches and whose approach to sustainability is as much rooted in common sense as it is in the eco-enthusiasm of its employees.”

The Terry Thomas,  a working demonstration of innovative sustainable design principles, also has been nominated for awards sponsored by regional organizations.

The interiors of Weber Thompson’s offices have been nominated for a Northwest Design Award.  The Seattle Design Center sponsors the awards, which will be announced on Sept. 25.

The Terry Thomas has been nominated in three categories - Sustainable Development of the Year, Office Development of the Year under 250,000 square feet, and the Innovation Project of the Year - in an annual competition sponsored by the Washington State Chapter of the National Association of Industrial and Office Properties (NAIOP).  NAIOP will present its awards Nov. 7.
