Judges call WT interior design “truly uplifting”

The interiors of Weber Thompson’s new offices in The Terry Thomas are among the best in the region, according to judges in the 10th annual Northwest Design Awards competition.

Weber Thompson won second place in the competition’s commercial interior design category.  Judges called the light-filled, airy office “truly uplifting” and praised the merging of aesthetics and sustainability.

“This is wonderful recognition for both the interior design staff and the entire Terry Thomas team,” said Interior Design Group Principal Donna Bergeron, IIDA, LEED AP.  As they do with all projects, Weber Thompson architects and interior designers collaborated from the start of the design process to create spaces that reflect the project’s vision and objectives.

Designers focused on creating healthy spaces that encourage social interaction and idea sharing.  They used only functional materials, and chose design features for their ability to be used for more than one function.  Light reflector panels above work stations, for instance, also serve as acoustical baffles.

Weber Thompson anticipates their offices will be LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Platinum Commercial Interiors certified, and the building is anticipating LEED Gold Core and Shell certification.  Platinum is the highest level possible.

The Seattle Design Center sponsors the awards.   Judges evaluated submissions based on problem solving, creativity, quality of design and beauty of the space.  The awards were presented earlier this fall.
