The Terry Thomas Wins AIA Seattle Commendation

The Terry Thomas won a commendation at the 2008 AIA Seattle Honor Awards for Washington Architecture. Out of a total of 175 entries for two categories – Built and Unbuilt – The Terry Thomas was recognized in the Built Projects category.

Jurors cited The Terry Thomas’ well-integrated systems. “The ephemerality of the interior and quality of the space makes it a wonderful environment to be in,” one judge said. The building courtyard also won praise for blurring the public and private realm and reinforcing a sense of community.

“This is a great space to work in, and we are pleased that others appreciate our design efforts,” said Weber Thompson Principal Scott E. Thompson, AIA and LEED AP. “It is an honor to be recognized by our peers.”

The AIA theme for the awards was Perform/Transform. “Perform” means a work must perform technically, aesthetically and humanistically, and that it must then “transform” in response to these factors. AIA is the leading professional membership association for licensed architects, emerging professionals and allied partners.
