Slender, elegant and sculpted, Fifteen Twenty-One Second Avenue is dedicated to sophisticated urban living.
This state-of-the-art residential tower has an elegant and modulated, high performing glass curtain wall. A skyline enhancing crown features dramatic 25 and 40 foot tall curvilinear fins which embrace and screen the rooftop core mechanical spaces and connect to vertical architectural elements from the tower itself. These elements define the four fragments that compose the building, each utilizing a mix of white metal panels, mullion patterning and glazing in different ways to emphasize four slender shards of glass reaching for the sky.
A primary design goal was to create a modern, LEED Silver certified tower that responds to its lively surrounding urban neighborhood. The project promotes intensifying urban density to create a more pedestrian-centric, 24/7 downtown core. To connect with the neighborhood, the above ground parking was activated with small studios that wrap around the parking levels, creating “found spaces” for residents to use for offices, hobby rooms, etc.
Speaking to its highly sophisticated audience, every unit is designed to penthouse quality. There are no decks, rather a clever, Seattle-centric solution where solariums with railing height bi-fold glass walls and fireplaces provide the best of both worlds for this climate; fresh air and the feeling of a deck in good weather, and protection from inclement weather in bad.
