We know mixed-use.
In 1986, the city of Seattle ‘wrote the book’ on mixed-use development. A revolutionary neighborhood-commercial zoning code was passed that mandates active retail use at the base of most multifamily buildings in Seattle’s many neighborhood communities. Weber Thompson was founded in 1987, shortly after this new code was implemented. Since that time, the firm has become one of the most prolific designers of this building type in the Pacific Northwest, with a portfolio of over 4,000 units in mixed-use, mid-rise buildings, eight of which are pursuing LEED certification.
Deep experience and a long track record of success give us knowledge of the complexities and challenges, conflicts and synergistic opportunities of mixed-uses in a single mid-rise building. Having worked with a broad spectrum of developers – all with unique approaches to the mixed-use concept – the firm has gained substantial technical expertise in this arena, with requisite knowledge of what it really takes to create a market responsive, made-to-last, highly functional building of this type – projects that work both on the residential and retail sides of the market.
