Ascent South Lake Union is in the heart of Seattle’s tech hub, so it incorporates tech-inspired elements in its exterior design — “vertical bars in a binary staccato rhythm of pattern and light,” and a “Z fin” light strip, according to South Carolina-based developer Greystar. The 25-story building with 251 apartments — with an average 932 square feet in each — packs in other design features, from ground level with its retail space and outdoor entry place to a roof-top spa tub and lounge area dubbed “the beach.”
Ascent’s features also include a dog run and pet-wash room, multiple outdoor grilling areas, landscaped terraces and a protected courtyard. Behind the scenes, the project involved some complexity. Ascent is part of a two-building development built off a shared podium, involving multiple designers and general contractors. That necessitated frequent communication and streamlined coordination to see the project through to completion.
