Pacific Coast Builders Conference held its annual Gold Nugget Awards on May 24. Now in its 60th year, the awards program honors architectural design, planning and development, and celebrates projects across a diverse range of categories that include green-built housing, site planning, commercial, retail, mixed-use development and specialty housing.
This year’s winners were selected from a field of 640 entries from around the world. Amongst the winners, three projects in Washington took home Grand/Best in category awards. Another seven took home Merit Awards.
The Grand Award winners include:
BEST STUDENT OR FACULTY HOUSING: Trailside Student Living (Seattle)
This is a two-building, student-targeted residential community near the University of Washington and University Village shopping mall, adjacent to the Burke-Gilman Trail.
The project is being developed in two phases. Phase one has 265 units and was completed in 2021. Phase two has 170 units. The architect for both buildings, Weber Thompson, lists this summer as the projected completion date for the second phase.
The phase one team was honored with the Gold Nugget Award. That team included The Walsh Group, general contractor; Phoenix Property Co., developer; Site Workshop, landscape architect; KPFF, civil engineer; and Weber Thompson, interior designer. Chinn Construction is the general contractor for phase two.
